What Comet does

  • Ask about the page you are on, compare how outlets cover a story, summarise and translate.
  • Delegate web chores: Perplexity’s page lists drafting email replies, building a simple website, making a study plan and shopping as examples, and “wrangling inboxes”, groceries, finances and trip planning as things you can hand off.
  • Max subscribers can run several agent tasks in parallel (“background assistants”) and use the stronger Max Assistant.

Get started

  1. Download Comet from perplexity.ai/comet (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android). Perplexity made it available to everyone for free on 2 October 2025.
  2. Sign in with your Perplexity account. Browsing and asking about pages work on Free.
  3. To let the assistant act on sites, subscribe to Pro or Max. If you subscribed on the web, upgrade on the web too: Perplexity warns that upgrading in a mobile app creates a second, separate subscription.
  4. Start with a read-only task (“summarise my unread newsletters”) before anything that sends, buys or submits.

FAQ

Is Comet free?

The browser is. Perplexity’s plan comparison lists browser-agent queries as “No” on Free and as monthly limits on Pro and Education Pro.

Does Perplexity Max include the API?

No. Perplexity says the Max model access applies within Perplexity web and that API access is billed separately.
